Most of our staff at Idlewild are artistically inclined, and this Thanksgiving week, we wanted to share a project by artist and Idlewild bookseller Jennifer May Reiland (you may have seen her behind the counter at our Manhattan store) that’s raising money for families at the border.
Jennifer has partnered with Girasol to sell a print to benefit them. Girasol is a non-profit that supports immigrants on the Texas-Mexico border by providing services to women and children both during and post-detention, educates service providers and students on migration and trauma, and connects community members with resources.
The print is just $25 and all proceeds go to Girasol. It’s inspired by art works of the Renaissance depicting the flight into Egypt to escape persecution.
